These resources are here to help you maintain your wellness. Please see our other pages for support if you are struggling.

Top tips for Wellbeing

We have put together our top tips for staying well.

  1. Share

Talking through concerns with friends, family or a member of student support is not a sign of weakness.

  1. Balance studying with other activities

It is always important to have a break from your studies and make sure that you carry on with hobbies and spend time with friends and family.

  1. Accept who you are

You are unique, don’t compare yourself to others.

  1. Give to others

Helping others makes you feel better about yourself. Even something as small as a smile. If you have time, you may wish to look at volunteering opportunities.

  1. Keep in touch with family and friends

You will meet lots of new friends at university but it is important to keep in contact with people who care about you and know you well.

  1. Get active

Regular exercise can boost your self-esteem as well as helping concentration and sleep. It’s a great way to make new friends too.

  1. Eat healthily

There are strong links between what we eat and how we feel.

  1. Drink Responsibly

Too much alcohol can affect your mental health and increase levels of anxiety and stress.

  1. Sleep well

Sleep is important to your physical and mental health. Sleep improves memory and concentration as well as reducing stress and anxiety.

  1. Unplug

Switch off phones and social media for a short time each day. Spend some time doing something you enjoy; listen to music, go for a walk or just have a few minutes of quiet time.
